How Much Do You Win On Green In Roulette? Green 0 Payout

Did you know it's possible to bet on green in roulette? In this Roulette Online blog post, we will share how much you can win when you place a bet on green in roulette.

Can You Bet On Green In Roulette?

You can bet on any colour you like in roulette. The roulette wheel in all variations of roulette comprises red, black and green segments. The number of green segments depends on the roulette game you are playing. There is one green segment on a European roulette wheel, and in American roulette, there are two green segments.

Betting on red or black covers 18 pockets in either instance and can be done as an outside bet that offers a 1:1 payout. However, there is no option for betting on green as a colour in the same way. You have to either place it as a Straight Up (single-number) or Split (two-number) bet covering the green pockets.

The green sections of the roulette wheel represent the zeros. So, European roulette has a 0, and American roulette has a 0 and 00. Just like any other number on the roulette wheel, you can bet on 0, 00 or both.

What Does Green Pay In Roulette?

If you bet on green in roulette, it awards the same payout as any other Straight Up or Split bet on red or black numbers.

Placing a Straight Up bet on green in European roulette could potentially pay out at 35:1 if it wins. Placing a Split bet on 0 and 00 in American roulette could potentially pay out at 17:1 if it wins.

How Often Does Green Hit In Roulette?

On an American roulette wheel, there are 18 red segments, 18 black segments and 2 green segments. The green sections of the American roulette wheel are marked 0 and 00. So, in total, there are 38 places where the ball could potentially land on any spin of the roulette wheel.

Only 2 spaces are green on the American roulette wheel. As a percentage, these spaces take up 5.26% of the wheel. So, theoretically, if you bet on either the green 0 or 00, you have a 5.26% chance of landing a win, on average.

In European roulette, there is just one green pocket on a 37-pocket wheel. So, there is a 2.7% chance of the ball landing on green.

What Bet Pays The Most In Roulette?

Since there are many more red and black segments on the roulette wheel than green, you're more likely to hit one of these colours. The red/black betting option is one of the most popular among roulette players.

The potential payout for betting on red or black is 1:1 since it has the highest chance of landing (alongside the other even-money outside bets, like high/low and odd/even). The odds of winning on these bets in European roulette is 48.65%, and for American roulette, the odds of winning this bet is 47.37%. Due to the odds being just under 50%, red or black is roulette's most common betting option, but this is why it also offers the lowest payout in the game.

The bet with the highest payout potential in roulette is a Straight Up (single number) bet. It has the lowest chances of landing as it only covers one pocket on the wheel. The odds of winning a single-number bet in European roulette is 2.7%, and in American roulette, it's 2.6%. But it pays out at 35:1 in both variations.

Other than choosing from the different available bets, there is no way to improve your odds of winning roulette because of the casino's house edge, which is always present. It may also be worth mentioning that European roulette has a slightly lower house edge than American roulette due to one less green pocket.
